Children over the age of 11 on the Isle of Wight should wear face coverings in school from tomorrow (Thursday), the Government has announced.
Although the masks don’t have to be worn in class, kids will be required to cover up when walking the corridors, outside of the classrooms and when social distancing from other children cannot be easily maintained.
A number of schools have already implemented this rule since returning in September.
Government guidance says that the suggested rule is for adults and children aged over 11 years of age.
Those in Year 7 or above should also cover up when on the school bus – much like any other form of public transport.
Schools are to stay open throughout the second national lockdown, which comes into force from 00:01 tomorrow (Thursday 5th November).

pointless waste of time – if masks and social distancing were effective then we wouldn’t be listening to this pack of drivel.
decisions being made by old people who are happy to trash everyone elses freedom, work and incomes, just so they don’t have to hide away indoors.
The reason we have reached this stage, is that people have been ignoring the advice on masks and social distancing, etc. It has been proven by scientists that wearing masks is a useful tool in the fight to stop the sprad of Covid-19.
So the virus knows the difference between a 10 year old and an 11 year old. It can also tell the time.
The world is getting more insane
as a former army Nuclear ,Biological and Chemical Warfare Instructor
with everybody now wearing masks
that are possibly contaminated
what is in place to decontaminate the masks that people are wearing
I bet most people wear the mask then take it off when they get home
then put the same mask back on when they go back out
this may be spreading the virus into their own properties
the only way to keep from possibly spreading this virus is to only wear
it once then leave it outside
or may be the council should be required to put a bin for contaminated masks
on every street corner
just a thought Roe Sprack
any squadie will remember
blot bang rub
how far do we take this
let it run its course
Selfish or what ! Unbelievable Liberty ! Speechless
unbelievably selfish by old people who are quite happy to see everyone else suffer.
Suffer? The coronavirus is a week or two discomfort for most people with >98% survival rates. Suffering is preventing 200K+ people from being diagnosed with cancer, which this government has done.
Thats right pepe – the old people are making everyone suffer, just to suit their own agenda.
covid has a 99.98% survival rate overall – there is no need for any lockdown, masks or social distancing at all ..unless you are old, where the 0.02% of deaths are primarily occuring. The old people should be indoors, away from everyone else and we should be back to normal.
they are to blame, entirely.
Oh..so under 11 s dont spread it right! More bs rules that wont help
Shown some take of in class so hooe that shit stops
As for comment on here about old people…thyre done of the rudest, i dont have it ill carry on lot ever.you decide yourselves how you look after yourself and what precautions you bother with and let uk carry on normally.
Lying on numbers and buffoon gov not taking decent advice are why were being ruined
Hancock and govt has appointed NO ONE to assess the harms that may result from the measures they think up in pursuit of making UK “Covid Secure”. NO consideration through SAGE and NOT ONE Impact Assessment for any coronavirus UK law or guidance. And now imposing such measures on our children….disgusting!!!
Looks like not many ‘younger’ people can read… It says that there are more cases of YOUNG people spreading the virus. And do not forget, your pets can also spread it ! Stop picking on the elderly, you will be one soon enough..
young people will be fine and recover – older people should stay indoors away from younger people- then we can get on with enjoying our lives, instead of having it wrecked by selfish old people.
