The plethora of NHS career opportunities on offer on the Isle of Wight is to be showcased at an event targeting secondary school students and anyone who might be interested in a career within the healthcare setting, later this month.
The Isle of Wight NHS Trust Careers Fair is aimed at students in Years 7 and above, with the hope of engaging them as early as possible in their school life and influencing their future choice of educational options. The event will include “hands-on” displays and representatives from a wide range of disciplines will be available to answer any questions.
The areas include, but are not limited to:
• Resuscitation team
• Occupational therapy
• Paramedics
• Midwifery
• Pharmacy
• Mental health
• Diagnostic imaging (X-ray /MRI scans)
• Blood services
• Finance
• Apprenticeships
• Administration
Chris Palmer, Executive Director of Finance and Human Resources, said:
“It’s never too soon to think about your career with the NHS on the Isle of Wight. There is a whole world of opportunity available to students right here on their doorsteps. We hope to attract young people to stay and have an interesting and worthwhile career, whilst also supporting our Island.”

The free event is being held on Saturday 21st November between 10:00 and 16:00 at the Education Centre at St Mary’s Hospital. There is no need to book in advance and parking is free, although a temporary parking permit must be obtained from the Education Centre.
