An image of a butterfly taken at The Needles Park has won first prize in a national competition organised by Heritage Great Britain.
The iconic site is just one of the landmarks Heritage Great Britain is responsible for with the portfolio also including Land’s End and John O’Groats as well as Snowdon Mountain Railway and Lightwater Valley in North Yorkshire.
Peter Johnson-Treherne, Heritage Great Britain, financial director said:
“After deciding a shortlist of entries the judges were relieved to hand the final decision over to the public who voted on social media. This striking image was the clear winner with a hundred more likes than its nearest rival.”
James Frost from Nocton in Lincoln won a Canon EOS 1100D camera and lens kit, courtesy of Condor Office Solutions.
All twelve shortlisted photographs will appear in a 2015 Heritage Great Britain calendar with profits donated to Llanberis Mountain Rescue and the RNLI.
