A support group has been set up by The Wight Brainy Bunch, in association with the Wessex Cancer Trust, for anyone who has been affected by a brain tumour, whether you are a patient, a family member, a friend or a carer.
Islanders are being invited along to join the confidential and supportive environment to have an informal chat, receive advice from a qualified counsellor, share experiences or simply to have a cup of coffee and take time out.
The first meeting is to be held at the Wessex Cancer Trust Support Centre at 19-21 Lugley Street, Newport on Tuesday 26th April between 18:00-19:00. Future meetings will be held on the last Tuesday of every month, same time, same place.
By working in partnership with the Wessex Cancer Trust, members of the group will be able to access all the services that they offer free of charge, such as:
• Complementary therapies, such as massage, reiki, reflexology, Indian head massage and aromatherapy
• Patient grants
• Transport; both on the island and in Southampton and Portsmouth

“We know that a brain tumour diagnosis is overwhelming, confusing and isolating. We know how challenging it is to find the information you need to understand your options, to take the best pathway for you and access the support you need to help you make that journey. We know what it’s like because we’ve been there too!”
