A 12-year-old local lad is to appear in court charged with a number of offences, including arson, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a Class B drug.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will stand before the Isle of Wight Youth Court accused of 5 offences dating between March and November this year.
According to court documents, the youngster caused criminal damage to the value of £200 in Ryde back in March. Then, in August, he is alleged to have committed common assault.
In October and November, the unnamed child was found in possession of a quantity of cannabis and an offensive weapon, namely a metal pole. He is also accused of 2 counts of using threatening/abusive/insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence.
A more serious charge of arson has also been brought against the 12-year-old.
Some of the offences were carried out when the boy was just 11-years-old.
UPDATE – The 12-year-old boy was referred to the Isle of Wight Youth Offending panel for a 12 month contract, with the boy’s parent subject to a parenting order to attend meetings.
The boy was told to pay compensation of £200 and costs of £85 with a £22 surcharge.
The offence of arson was withdrawn.
