Wightlink are advising that they are unable to accommodate wheelchair users and those with accessible travel needs on their catamaran service today (Monday) due to a technical issue.
The issue is affecting the Ryde Pier Head to Portsmouth Harbour service.
Furthermore, Wightlink says that to maintain social distancing, staff are unable to offer assistance to customers with any luggage, bikes, pushchairs, prams or walking frames.
With Hovertravel’s service from Ryde suspended due to adverse weather, those who need to use a wheelchair or mobility scooter to cross the Solent have no choice but to divert to Wightlink’s car ferry service from Fishbourne.
Wightlink apologises for any changes to your travel plans.
UPDATE @ 09:55 – Wightlink advises that the technical issue has now been resolved and they are once again able to accommodate customers with accessible travel needs using a wheelchair or mobility scooter.

Is this because of the ‘Joey’ incident, yesterday? I hope not, as mental illness isn’t catching.
Glad Wightlink was not around during Dunkirk, we would have never got our troops back home.
