An appeal has been issued by Totland Parish Council after damage to a children’s play area in the town was reported over the past week.
Staff in the Parish Office have apparently spoken with a number of residents after vandalism was noted at the Recreation Ground play area and antisocial behaviour was experienced.
In one instance, glass was smashed around the play slide and fizzy drinks were poured down it. Additionally, youths thought to be aged between 13 and 15 have caused issues by setting fires within a play tunnel.
The incidents have been reported to the police. A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said:
“We received a report on 8th September of issues regarding vandalism and anti-social behaviour at Totland Recreation Ground over the summer holidays.
“It’s reported that youths had been setting fires and leaving broken glass in the children’s play area.
“We encourage people to continue to report any issues relating to anti-social behaviour in this area to police, so the local neighbourhood policing team can build a bigger picture of the full extent of the issues and take any necessary action.”
If you have any information on the damage, you’re asked to email the Parish Clerk at [email protected]
