UPDATED: Following the shocking news that Ryde Inshore Rescue has been targeted by vandals rendering the lifeboats unusable, it has been revealed today (Tuesday) that vandals have caused a double blow for Ryde having destroyed over 300 plants in the town.
Over the weekend, vandals struck a flower bed in Coronation Gardens, Ryde resulting in the loss of over 300 plants.
Unfortunately, due to the cost, the Isle of Wight Council say they will not be replaced and the bed will now be tidied up and left empty for the immediate future, just as the Summer season gets into full swing.
UPDATE @ 14:00 – Haylands Farm have stepped forward and offered to supply and replant the 300 plants lost over the weekend.
The local charity, based at Salters Road on the outskirts of the town, acts as a center for those with learning disabilities providing work opportunities.
