The Isle of Wight Council says they are removing a ticket machine in the West Wight due to repeated vandalism.
From tomorrow (Friday), the pay and display machine will be removed from the car park at Broadway in Totland.
Motorists using the car park will need to use PayByPhone to pay for parking here in the future. There will be no cash payment option.
It’s bad news for motorists as the PaybyPhone app charges you a surcharge for the convenience of digital payment. As a result, vandalism has now had a detrimental effect on everyone who parks at the Broadway.
Parking charges at this location only start if stays are for over an hour.
Why should you be penalized for not having a mobile phone?
Because of soft, weak, wet, society we now wish to live in. Charity kept children from parents paid to have them, not really wanted, but not bothered if pregnant as then along comes a free house, income, and only work if you want too.
Why do YOU think the third world has now risked life an limb to move here….? It isn’t for our weather.
The resulting offspring of broken, or single parents, are then so long as out of the house, allowed by the parent to do what it wishes, hence we are where we are, and getting more feral each generation, as the charity kept children then have children and paying society cannot afford to keep our own trash AND the rest of the worlds as well.
Someone has to pay, and that someone, will be all of us.
You are so right. The combination of the Welfare State and NHS has allowed those not genetically fit to have children to have many of them. Add to that the mass immigration of third world (they are third world for a reason) people and we are breeding towards mediocrity, and in 30 or 40 years an Islamic majority.
I find your comments very narrow minded and offensive! I brought four children up single handed. One is an award winning editor, one president of a large company, they other two run island based successful businesses. I worked three jobs to care for my wonderful children and never had a handout from anyone. Some of this worlds best people were raised by a single parent!!

I’m sure if the vandals want to continue, they could just spray paint over or otherwise damage the signs saying which app to use, if there’s no way to pay then you can’t get a parking ticket. Maybe though I shouldn’t put ideas in their heads.
Don’t be surprised if they roll this out over the entire island eventually. No need to install/maintain/collect cash from machines anywhere. Win win for them, and that all that matters – to them.
Hide a small video camera close by and catch the sh*ts who think it’s ok to vandalise this machine

Increase in parking charges, followed almost immediately with having to call someone to get a online ticket which comes with an extra charge to do it.
Did the Council when upgrading them several years ago publicly announce that they were vandal proof?
Obviously, they are not !
I reckon this is the most hated tax of them all, especially the way it’s enforced.
