The Isle of Wight Council have this week agreed to keep taxi fares the same for at least another year.
At a committee meeting on Monday, it was agreed that the current rates of £3 for the first half-a-mile and 45p per quarter mile thereafter should remain untouched until at least November 2014. The overnight rate of £6 for the first half-mile and 60p per quarter mile thereafter will also remain the same.
Although rarely used on the Island, rickshaws will not be included under the taxi fares table, being classed as a tourist attraction. The same was agreed for horse and carriages.
No other changes are to be made to how rates are calculated, the meeting concluded.
