SUNSHINE BRINGS OUT THE CROWDS FOR MARDI GRAS

mardigras2015_004PICTURE GALLERY: A parade of colour and over 750 participants from across the Island and further afield passed through the streets of Ryde on Saturday in celebration of the 800th year of the sealing of the Magna Carta during the annual Mardi Gras parade.

The New Carnival Company-organised event set off from Ryde School before making its way through the High Street, Union Street and along the Esplanade to a finish at Eastern Gardens.

mardigras2015_005Thousands of spectators lined the streets under the hot June sunshine to marvel at the wonderful costumes created by over 30 different groups, including from a variety of schools. Each section had a different theme including racial equality, justice and freedom of the press.
