The Earl Mountbatten Hospice (EMH) were pleased to welcome Darth Vader and two Storm Troopers to present a cheque for £1000 to members of the Hospice clinical team last Saturday.
Throughout the year The Vectis Remnant promotes the Star Wars Universe at Isle of Wight events while raising money for local charities, and this donation was gratefully received by EMH, who were their chosen charity for 2013.
The group consists of twenty members who dress up as Star Wars characters, complete with large replica props. They attend between eight and twelve events on the Island and each year raise funds for an Island charity through the use of collecting buckets.
Becky McGregor (Clinical Centre Manager of the EMH John Cheverton Centre), Vicky Scovell (EMH Staff Nurse) and Hilary Richardson accepted the donation from members of The Vectis Remnant. The donation was given specifically to the Hospice at Home team in appreciation of the care received by a friend of the group’s. EMH said they were delighted to receive the donation and pleased that attendance at events of The Vectis Remnant’s Star Wars characters will have brought much enjoyment to those attending.
