Three charities on the Isle of Wight are among 1,000 around the UK to benefit from Yorkshire Building Society members’ small change.
The Society’s Charitable Foundation has donated a total of £100,000 to charities and good causes nominated by people during its Small Change Big Difference campaign.
Cowes Sailability Club, Cruse Bereavement Care and Headway Isle of Wight were among those to be given a £100 donation after being nominated at the Society’s local agency at Ward House Mortgages & Life in Ryde.
The Charitable Foundation is funded through the Small Change Big Difference® scheme where members donate the pennies from the annual interest on their accounts to help charities and good causes.
Michael Ward, proprietor of Ward House Mortgages & Life, said:
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came into the agency to nominate a charity for a donation during our Small Change Big Difference campaign.
“At Yorkshire Building Society we are committed to our community and I hope these donations will enable the charities to carry on their wonderful work here on the Isle of Wight.”
As of 2014, the amount donated by the Charitable Foundation on the Isle of Wight was more than £8,200.
More than three quarters of a million Yorkshire Building Society accounts contribute to the Small Change Big Difference® scheme.
