60-year-old David Henderson from Shanklin has been charged with drink driving following a crash in Shanklin Old Village last Wednesday.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident at 23:20 on Wednesday 22nd July when a Mitshubishi Shogun Sport collided with a wall on the S-bends through the Old Village.
The driver of the vehicle fled from the scene but was caught by Police a short while later, as previously reported by Island Echo.
Now, David Henderson of Rush Close, Shanklin has been charged with driving whilst unfit through drink and failing to stop after an accident.
Mr Henderson has been released on bail until his court appearance before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 21st August.

Surely that is a 20 mph limit. He must have been very drunk to not have been able to stop going at that speed and losing control. Or was he speeding as well?

Perhaps he was so drunk he thought the Pub there was a drive in.
