A popular seaside shop located on North Walk in Ryde has undergone a complete rebrand, dropping the Wimpy franchise after 14 years.
Wayne Whittle, who is also a Councillor for Ryde North East, has run the ‘Wimpy on the beach’ store for the past 14 years alongside his business partner Geoff, offering ice creams, beach accessories and a range of fastfood alongside under the Wimpy takeaway banner.
Now, ahead of the summer season, the ideally located shop – which also houses the beach lifeguards – has been renamed ‘The Big Kahuna’ with a slight remodeling of the goodies on offer.
Residents and tourists alike will be pleased to know that The Big Kahuna will continue to offer the usual seaside essentials, as well as offering a wider variety of food from fresh sandwiches to all day breakfasts and fish & chips.
Speaking on Twitter, Wayne told Island Echo said:
“Me & Geoff have enjoyed 14 years running the Wimpy on the Beach. Thank you to all our customers & Wimpy UK”.
The news comes as the town’s other Wimpy store in Union Street – unrelated to Mr Whittle – remains closed and unoccupied while a new tenant is sought to run the franchise.
