Sainsbury’s Newport has raised £6,021 for Isle of Wight Society For The Blind as part of the Local Charity of the Year scheme.
The charity that supports the blind and partially sighted. The group was chosen by customers and colleagues last June and has received support from the store for the past year.
Activities have included Awareness days “Dressing Bright for Sight” Fundraising Days, monetary & Bag Packing collection days in store, food, crockery and Red Nose Day Donations. Colleagues have also read Newsletters that were recorded whilst they were reading, which would then have been put onto a USB Stick/CD and posted out to their clients for them to listen to. The Isle of Wight Store have also volunteered their time to the charity during a “Community Day” which was spent at their Headquarters in Newport painting some of their interior Rooms.
