Islanders are being reminded about the dangers of cliff edges and damaged sections of the Island’s coastal paths after vandals broke through fencing in Lake yesterday evening (Thursday) which was installed earlier in this year due to a landslip.
Operatives from HSS Hire, acting on behalf of Island Roads, were called to replace safety fencing installed at Lake Cliff Gardens after it was reported the 6ft high barriers had been damaged. Police also attended.
Possibly unknown to the culprits, a 100ft drop is present the other side on the closed footpath after the cliff edge slipped away back in January.
The fencing has been put in place to protect the safety of locals, with a serious risk of death or injury if the signage and preventative measures are ignored.
The fencing has been replaced and the footpath remains closed. Walkers should divert via the main road.
