There was cause for celebration on Wednesday for one of the Island’s Army Cadets after she was named one of three newly appointed Lord Lieutenants Cadets at an awards evening held at the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes.
Acting Cadet Sergeant Rosie Wilson of 1 Troop, C Company was handed her appointment by the Island’s Lord Lieutenant Major General White CB CBE JP at the reception and will now assist him in her new role at official functions – including Royal visits – over the next two years.
Sgt Wilson, who has been in the Island’s Army Cadets since 2011, says:
“To receive such an honour as being Lord Lieutenants Cadet is a privilege, as I am not only representing myself but I am representing the generation I belong to and the organisation which has shaped me.
“I hope to do as the cadet motto reads and ‘aspire to achieve’.”
Major Tony Groves, C Company’s Commander added:
“I am extremely chuffed at her achievement and that she is representing the ACF on the Isle of Wight in her new role.”
The Army Cadets is a youth organisation sponsored by the Ministry of Defence for boys and girls aged 12-18.
