An official map released by the Government shows whereabouts on the Isle of Wight COVID-19 is being recorded.
The map highlights hotspot areas based on the postcode of those who have tested positive in the 7-day period ending 14th October. However, the map only shows areas where more than 3 cases have been recorded in a 7-day period.
As of today (Tuesday), the map shows that the North East side of the Island is most affected by the virus in town such as East Cowes, Wootton and Ryde Town. Other areas which are seeing infections include Cowes, Brading and Sandown.
7–day rates are expressed per 100,000 population and are calculated by dividing the 7-day count by the area population and multiplying by 100,000.
The dark green areas on the map indicate a Middle layer Super Output Areas (MSOA) infection rate of 51-100, whilst the light green areas represent a rate of 11-50.
You can check your postcode area by visiting https://coronavirus-staging.data.gov.uk/details/interactive-map.

Its not hard to wear a mask you know stop moaning and be considerate for the vunerable
The flu killed 665,000 people worldwide last year. You weren’t afraid of it because the media didn’t tell you to be.So turn off your tv…
Finally someone talking sense
very true
excatly
The flu could kill that many again, + covid deaths
The Covid 19 strain has killed 1.1M people Worldwide in just over 7 months with the worst period to come. People are less afraid of normal flu because there is a jab available.
are you sure you mean ‘killed’ and not ‘was a contributing factor in the deaths’?
You mean just as normal flu could be a contributing factor to recorded deaths? Then yes.
Also normal flu strains don’t carry the long term illness effects.
If we don’t stop this lockdown nonsense, Britain will be plunged into an economic and social Depression. One which will destroy the lives and livelihoods of far more people than it’s intended to save.
Rubbish, close down badly run pubs etc.
Obviously the people who gave it thumbs down do not read reports on cancer deaths caused by the lockdown. Still they can lock themselves away a moan when they gave no money, no shops after this is over.
How has lockdown caused cancer deaths? Maybe a contributory factor, but not the cause…
Appointments cancelled? Nhs too busy dealing with COVID? This is just the beginning if it goes on other illnesses are being pushed aside and diagnoses and treatments are held up.
Well said
We are hurtling towards another full-scale lockdown as the spread of Covid 19 accelerates. It’s not the fault of the Government. It’s not the fault of the Council. It’s the fault of people who are too lazy, stupid or arrogant to follow simple guidelines. Wash your hands, cover your face, keep your distance. Social distancing has been completely forgotten and yet it’s the simplest way to slow the spread of infection. Following simple, common sense advice will slow the spread of Covid 19. It seems people are incapable of doing so without compulsion and so the Government have to step in with over the top lockdowns, which are in themselves very damaging, to force the issue. Sort yourselves out, people.
Alright for you to say all that but still when are we going to learn to live with it? It’s not going away its here to stay, people can not live in fear of something that ultimately we have no control over, we are a naturally social species people will want to be social and live there lives without fear of catching this virus
I don’t quite understand your logic, IOWter. Of course, we all want to be able to live without fear of catching this virus. How do you suggest we make it go away? The best compromise is to be aware that it’s there (along with many other infectious diseases) and it’s highly contagious. Just keeping a sensible distance from other people will go a long way to protecting you and then you can go on with your life almost as normal. Does it really hurt so much to stand two metres away from the person in front at the supermarket? If we all act sensibly there will be no need for another lockdown. Not going to happen, I fear.
Before I say anything else I respect everyone’s opinion completely I’m not downing anyones thoughts or opinions as they are all valid………….. my logic is the fact like you say there are countless infectious viruses/diseases and you can do all you can to avoid these but unfortunately we are not ever going to fully control this as once its here it’s never going to go away.
We do eventually need to get on with our lives as normal yes I do think the hand hygiene is great but not just for Covid this is something that was drummed into me from a young age and I believe it should be just a normal thing to do, social distancing is in my opinion something that yes you can try as much as possible to follow but it’s impossible to keep 2 metres at all times, and when it comes to masks at the end of the day how long can we keep wearing masks every time we enter a store? I’m just saying this isn’t a viable way to live our lives I know we need to keep people that are vulnerable as safe as we can but eventually we all need to just act with an ounce of common sense and live with it, like I said once a virus is here it is here to stay and there is nothing anyone can do about it until some sort of medication is discovered.
We agree. Act with common sense. Social distancing can be done – remember just a few months ago – we were pretty good at it. Now people have got bored. The more people try to social distance, the better it will be. It won’t be perfect but it could be better than it is now and between us we have reminded a small but select audience already. Remember, we want to avoid lockdowns. Personally, I don’t have a problem wearing a mask. I do it to help protect others just in case I have unknowingly become infected. In fact, my wife says I should wear a mask all the time; it’s a vast improvement apparently.
Saw two coaches from Derbyshire unload all their pensioners today half unmasked in town. Thought they were in tier 3 very high risk so why are they even travelling? Aren’t we supposed to be protecting them? What’s the point? Not to mention the risk to us here.
Your words unmasked in town don’t need to be masked in town only inside.
If they’re pensioners and from a high risk area it would be sensible for them to wear masks. I realise it’s not compulsory but common sense should be used.
Do you think covid will just pack its bags and go away…we need to learn to live with it as you can`t hide from it forever. Your Government is lying to you.
Well said.
Stop reading the tripe on social media.
hear, hear.
go and checkout gbdeclaration.org Eye opening
Load of rubbish.. are there 100,000 people in just those areas.. NO… so how can they declare this? One bit I do believe is that it shows ( if near true) that the virus is coming across on the ferries.. Red Funnel, Wightlink Fishbourne, and both Wightlink Catamaran and the Hovercraft..
Yes they get as get as far as Tesco, buy an ice cream then turn around and go home
Very odd none recorded in Newport, where St Mary’s is… Nothing Yarmouth way, or how about Brook where one was allegedly reported..? This map is made up..
Could they be students away at university? Care homes? Does the island have a local test and trace group? I guess they should know. But even if they do will they tell you?
Interesting that the areas marked are adjacent to major bus routes with the Ryde to Sandown areas including Tesco’s and the railway. Any conclusions to be drawn from that?
All around the main ferry terminals on the Island, probably due to people being sent to the Island for testing
I was treated for cancer breast and kidney every week chemotherapy
The unit was fantastic as is all of St Mary’s very virus aware.
I’m still here just have to be careful stayed away from everyone family
Included
Cancer gives you a low immune system so you don’t have anything

Cancer is killing more…flue is doing the rounds.
STOP THE OBSESSION GOVN for whats just another virus in the mix.
Never been any lockdowns ever in history for a virus.google it…Go on
Numbers are bs people are having covid on death certif..EVEN WHEN IT’S NOT! docs wont don a suit and do job paid for so heart attacks n breathing prob is just added too covid numbers as reason.shocking
.wake up and see through all thus crazyness obsession.i feel gov bott in too deep with stupidity too turn back now
Not reading the situation and missing the point completely. Unhelpful.
Lol . Brainwashed sheep arent in agreement huj.thumbs down?truth hurts
Is this taken from Councillor “Pugwash” Stewarts “Colouring Book of Covid” looks like he only got to use the green crayons, I guess ol’ sausage Bob got all the blue ones and Metcalf got the red ones. Can’t wait to see what their colouring skills are like. Amazing to see how it has followed the tourist routes. Impressive work ferry companies.
Scaremongering rubbish .
your right its not hard to wear a mask and to social distance i cant see why some people cant just get on with it,
we don’t all sit at home watching the news either ,but when we do go out we don’t want people who don’t care in your face either just give a s–t about other people for a change
One life live it
Completely agree.
Many haven’t lived it sadly
Looks like all the entry places from the mainland plus the railway. Mainland workers?
What do you suggest people that work on the mainland do then Jan? I’d be very interested to hear your solution. I am one of those mainland workers, I’ve been going back and fourth since the beginning of June. I follow all the social distancing rules as do everyone else that I see commuting. I don’t think it’s fair to blame mainland workers. These are the very people that continue to contribute to the islands economy, we can not simply decide we don’t want to work on the mainland anymore, as I’m sure you are aware the island is hardly a hotspot for well paid jobs. Some people have no choice!
It has already been conceded that this virus will not go away, like the common cold or flu there will Not be a cure merely something to alleviate the symptoms, let’s get on with our lives
If you look at the map most of covid is Ryde, wootton ,east cowes ,west cowes ….. which is were all the boats come in to …. I personally think its obvious where its coming from ????
