The Way Forward Programme is hosting the first ever Great Wight Cake Off, an event the charity hope will bring the whole Island together whilst helping raise vital funds for the Way Forward Programme.
The Event will consist of 3 competitions, the best novelty themed Bestival cake will win Bestival tickets and the best Victoria sponge will win a day on board Princess Cruises flag ship including 3 course meal for 4. The best junior cake will win 4 joint park tickets to Robin Hill and Blackgang Chine. Cakes must be made prior to the event and brought along on the day.
All entries will be judged by Sarah Sibley, a mainland newspaper baking columnist and whose cakes have appeared on the likes of the Johnathon Ross show. Also judging will be Hannah from Hannah’s cakes, Phil Long from Sainsbury’s Bakery and Lee White, Lead of the Way Forward charity. Entry is just £5 per cake.
The Great Wight Cake Off is on 12th July at Newclose Cricket Club, Blackwater Road, Newport and will run from 11:00-15:00. There will be music, food, licensed bar, parking, easy access via public transport, stalls and lots of entertainment including ‘Castles for Rascals’ and ‘The Starlight Boutique’.
