Police are appealing for the public’s help in locating 18-year-old Chris Koppany, who has gone missing from Ryde. Chris was last seen around 19:00 last night (Thursday) at Binstead beach. His family – and the authorities – are extremely concerned for his welfare, with a major search and rescue operation launched overnight. 4 lifeboats, 3 Coastguard teams, WightSAR, Police, a Police boat and a Coastguard helicopter have all been involved in the search, as first reported by Island Echo. They’ve been battling adverse weather conditions to scour the Solent from the sea, from the air and from land.
The 18-year-old is described as being around 6ft tall, of slim build, with short brown hair and is clean shaven. If you have seen Chris or have any information on his whereabouts, then call Police on 999 quoting 170 of today’s date (23rd August).
