Cowes-based UKSA will be visited by HRH The Princess Royal during Cowes Week, it has been announced today (Tuesday).
Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence will be joining Princess Anne, UKSA’s patron, on a visit to the sailing academy and will join the charity’s young ambassadors and invited guests to take part in racing during Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week on Tuesday 5th August.
The Princess Royal will also attend a Vigil Service at the Chapel of St. Nicholas in Castro at Carisbrooke Castle the day before (4th August) to commemorate the outbreak of the First World War.
Back in Cowes, Princess Anne will also attend the Annual Crew Dinner at Royal Yacht Squadron as an Honorary Member and will attend a reception at the Royal London Yacht Club.
UKSA offers transformational opportunities to 9,000 young people a year through sailing and watersports. The focus is on three key areas: providing adventurous on-the-water activities to schools and groups, offering essential life and work skills through youth development programmes, and providing structured professional maritime training courses.
UKSA is the official charity of Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week and funds raised throughout this event will go towards giving every Year 6 pupil on the Isle of Wight a session on the water.
