Police are today (Wednesday) continuing their investigation into a sick and twisted Facebook profile set up earlier this week to mock the tragic death of 14-year-old Kiri-Jade Hodgkinson, who died in a serious RTC on The Downs last Thursday.
Officers from Hampshire Constabulary are appealing for information about the offensive Facebook profile that was set up by an unknown individual and contained defaced photographs and truly disturbing status updates, bringing upset and anger to family, friends and members of the public.
Inspector Terry Clawson said:
“The page has been taken down but has already caused unbearable upset for Kiri-Jade’s family and friends.
“We’re taking this matter very seriously and investigating it from a criminal perspective. We’re working with Facebook and following other lines of enquiries and we will be taking appropropriate action.
“If you have any information that can assist with our enquiries, please contact us directly. If you come across any similar sites, please also let us know and avoid commenting on them.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Peter Russell at Newport DCIC on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
