policenightPolice are this week investigating a fight in Ryde which left a man with a serious head injury and are appealing for help to identify a man wanted in connection with the incident.

Officers were called to Union Street at around 02:50 yesterday morning (Sunday) after a 21-year-old man from Ryde was attacked by two men following a Saturday night out on the town.

The assault left the victim with a serious head injury, which is not believed to be life-threatening.

A teenager, an 18 male from Sandown, was arrested on suspicion of assault, questioned by Police and released on bail until 10th October.

A second suspect, who is yet to be identified, is described as White, aged in his late teens to early 20s, 5ft 11″ to 6ft tall and of slim/skinny build. He is said to have dark short hair shaved close to back and sides and was wearing a long-sleeved light grey/ blue top, light blue jeans, and white trainers.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact PC Craig Robins at Newport Police Station by phoning 101. Information can be given anonymously by phoning the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
