The Island’s bus operator, Southern Vectis, has apologised following the cancellation of over 60 journeys across the Island since the beginning of September.
Service users have noticed a recurring theme in recent weeks as the operator has pulled timetables services due to staff absences, leading some passengers to be late for work or school, and others missing appointments.
Just today (Tuesday), 5 journeys on the bus network had been cancelled by 09:30. The bus company, part of the GoAhead group, has pinned the blame for the cancellations on staff absences.
Simon Moye, Operations Manager at Southern Vectis, says:
“We have a larger than normal number of colleagues absent today which may result in some journeys not operating. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
“The team are working hard to operate as many journeys as possible, but we do expect some disruption.
“Thank you for your understanding.”
