Our local weather partners, Isle of Wight Weather, are warning of an increased risk of ice this evening and overnight into Monday morning.
The skies will clear tonight and this will allow the temperatures to drop rather quickly, leading to quite a harsh frost with the risk of icy patches where surfaces are still wet from this afternoons showers that has seen rain, sleet and hail fall Island-wide.
Most main routes will be gritted from 21:00 this evening, but some of the smaller roads may become very slippery, especially places away from the coast and in the more sheltered valleys such as Arreton, Wroxall, Shalfleet, Newtown and the Medina Valley area. Smallbrooke Lane is also noted as being notoriously icey.
Temperatures close to the North Coast will hover close to freezing but some spots inland may fall to -2’c or -3’c, possibly even lower locally.
Temperatures will rise rapidly along the east, south and west coast of the Island around dawn but may stay close to freezing for a little longer towards central parts of the island.
