jobcentresignFigures released today (Wednesday) by the Office for National Statistics show that 146 more people were in work last month compared to the beginning of the year.

Although the number is still high at 3,013 Island residents claiming the unemployment benefit Jobseekers Allowance, it is a large fall on the year-on-year figure that shows 1,097 less people were claiming JSA during February this year compared to February 2013.

During January of this year, 3,159 people were claiming JSA here on the Isle of Wight.
