A 62-year-old man from Newport has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon after a lock knife was seized by Police recently.
Officers used stop and search powers to discover the weapon from the male, who is said to have been walking the streets of Newport at the time of the seizure.
The man in his 60s – who Police have not yet named – has been charged with possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and a public order offence. He will appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court in due course.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary has said:
“Officers across all IOW response teams, ARV, dog units & neighbourhoods will continue to ethically exercise powers available to them under stop & search to keep our island safe”.

I thought lock knives under six inches were not illegal ?
All ‘lock knives’ are illegal, irrespective of blade length! Other knives are ok if blade length is <3″
There must be something more to this
Break the law & pay the price good job!
Walking the streets of Newport!!!!
Is he a ladyboy?
You must have a good reason to carry a knife, for example a chief going to work or your a Angler…
