The Home Secretary’s plans to crackdown on the Channel migrant crisis could end up with processing centres being set up on Islands such as the Isle of Wight, with migrants free to roam the local area.
MailOnline report that Priti Patel is looking at all the options for tackling the huge numbers of migrants entering the country illegally, which could include setting up ‘offshore’ camps with the Isle of Wight, Isle of Man and the Shetland Islands all potential destinations.
The Isle of Wight has already run 2 COVID-19 app trials and was selected as the first location to trial unnamed drone deliveries for the NHS, so it isn’t a huge jump to imagine the Isle of Wight being a guinea pig for the next Government-backed plan – especially with Camp Hill prison sat empty.
Of course, the plan is in its early days but MailOnline sources say that UK Islands are being considered, alongside foreign locations such as Morocco, Moldova or Papua New Guinea.
The centres would be like hostels, which indicates that any migrants may be free to roam the local area. They would not be housed in secure detention centres.
Another plan being considered is using old ferries, moored just off the coast, to process the migrants crossing over to Britain from France.
Migrants are already being housed at Napier Barracks in Folkestone, Kent.
No doubt any ‘true’ feelings will not be allowed to be posted on here, so I shan’t bother giving my real opinion.
So expect skewed to the usual media ‘biased’ comments when ever dealing with this ‘subject’ only posts giving sympathy and understanding, being allowed, with many naive not understanding the implications UNTIL it is all too late.
Pritti along with all ministers, MP’s, top Police and Councillors should house such in their no doubt large home(s) and erect porta cabins in their gardens, grounds, and pony paddocks and, ‘then, and ONLY then’ would we see how quickly the immigrant ‘issue’ would be rapidly ‘dealt with’.
Easy not to care when you are miles away from such and your loved ones will never be affected by such, nor your job, or your child’s safety.
IF such is planned, we should ALL refuse to pay our Council tax, whatever they threaten. This Island is already being ruined by over building, and to then fill such with clones from those interred here will end up like inner city areas we witness on TV.
It is NOT a location which causes vile crime, it is what is allowed to fill that location.

I hope everyone is reading all the negative comments. There is nothing positive in allowing overseas criminals to desecrate the IOW. The do-gooders are living in some kind of fantasy world, where everyone is nice and kind to each other. Some of these professional migrants are not wired the same as you and will steal, destroy and enforce their own laws upon your land just as soon as they have been accepted. As others have said once they ‘land’ here they should be taken straight back to France as after all the first place that migrants land is where they claim asylum, they only want to be here because of our soft approach with benefits etc. They will ultimately be a drain on society with no intentions of working or integrating with communities. I expect the majority are not from places where they are unsafe or treated badly, they just want to live in a country which they believe is paved in gold. If the Island is now considered “offshore” then naturally we should have the fiscal benefits that the Isle of Man and Jersey do. Priti obvious really!
We don’t have the infrastructure – Hospitals, Doctors, Dentists, School places – talking of which we are probably the least equipped area of England to cope with foreign nationals – we certainly are not set up to provide education to non-English speaking pupils in any numbers. It would also decimate our tourist industry. What is needed is not places to house these people, it’s to stop them coming in the first place.
Why not start at the beginning and think about what makes the UK so attractive to these people. The access to food, accommodation ,health benefits all free from day one maybe what spurs them on.
Stop all these benefits for all immigrants that come via “the back door” and make it clear that you are not getting a free ride on the backs of the British public.
Stop the right to bring there families over once they are legal.

The good folk of Folkestone (Napier Barracks) and Penally, South Wales ( Penally Training Camp) only found out less than a week before the Home Office handed over to the security company and the first migrants were moved in. Their main objective would be to get off the Island and go to the mainland. Then all vehicles going onto the ferries would need to be searched, all boats and yachts checked before sailing and all swimmers would have to carry identification.
