An Isle of Wight mum has shown determination to beat the recession by starting up her own jewellery business from her home in Shanklin.
Alison Rinaldi has set up ‘Crystal Storm Jewllery’ as a way of creating work for herself and beating the recession in a time when normal employment is difficult to find. Alison wanted something that would fit around her commitments as a full-time mum so decided to start producing bespoke and handmade jewellery.
Her business has grown and she now regularlly ships her work across the UK and further afield.
Alison said:
“I’ve always enjoyed anything to do with arts and crafts and do a lot of paintings and drawings and have made jewellery for myself and friends for years.
“I love wire wrapping with sterling silver and I’ve always been interested in crystals and gemstones and their meanings. A lot of people asked me to make jewellery as they couldn’t find what they were looking for in the shops so the idea behind the business was that any item can be customised, sizes altered, or made up in different colours or materials.
“I wanted a business where I’m easy to contact and have good communication with customers as I want to make jewellery that people love”.
