Island charity Challenge & Adventure are appealing for your last minute support to help build a ‘Field of Dreams’ through a national competition.
The Newport-based charity work with disadvantaged and challenging young people, including those from disability groups, using adventurous outdoor activities and tailored support to build their confidence, raise their self-esteem and help them to re-engage at school, at home and in the community.
As part of a nation-wide competition being held by building suppliers Jewson’s, Challenge & Adeventure are seeking support to provide basic facilities to enable local and regional groups to offer affordable day/evening and overnight outdoor activities to benefit the people they work with in the community.
Funding/resources are required for Phase 1 of the project which will provide 10 wooden sleeping pods, toilet and washing facilities and an open sided seating area to accommodate 40 people.
The charity’s entry into Jewson’s competition has seen them fly through to the final 63 entries out of a total of 2000, but they now need your vote to help secure funding to make the project a reality.
Voting ends on Sunday (31st May). Challenge & Adventure are currently in second position to RNLI Penlee lifeboat.
