UPDATED: The Environment Agency have issued a flood warning for the Eastern Yar this evening (Wednesday).
Following consistent heavy rain today, levels in the upper Eastern Yar are high and continue to rise. Further showers are forecast for the rest of the night, some of which are heavy at times.
There is a risk of flooding to Station House at Alverstone.
A Flood Alert also remains in force for the whole of the Eastern Yar valley, which has been in place since 21st December and the Isle of Wight Coast.
The latest alert could see disruption to travel with Morton Common at risk of flooding.
UPDATE THURSDAY @ 06:40 – Island Roads are advising motorists this morning that Culver Parade will remain closed until 17:00 for the removal of sand.
Meanwhile, as expected, Morton Common has started to flood resulting in one side of the carriageway becoming passable only with care.
UPDATE THURSDAY @ 09:40 – A further 18mm of rain has fallen on the area in the last 24 hours.
Although levels in upper Eastern Yar are falling slowly they are still high with a further 6-8mm of rain expected this evening, with potentially 15mm on Friday.
The risk of ongoing flooding to property remains although is receding.
