UPDATED: Firefighters from Newport and Ventnor are tackling a small fire at The Wight Mouse pub in Chale this lunchtime (Sunday).
Crews wearing breathing apparatus are using a hose reel to tackle the fire. The building has been evacuated.
2 appliances and an officer from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were mobilised to the rural pub at just gone midday.
UPDATE – Fire crews have successfully extinguished the fire, identified as being caused by a tumble drier.
In February last year firefighters extinguished another tumble drier fire at The Wight Mouse.
The business remains open as usual.
