The Diabetes Group IOW is hosting Liz Whittingstall and Tracey Porteous from the Diabetes Centre, St. Mary’s Hospital IOW NHS Trust as guest speakers.
Many people with diabetes on the Island may have questions about how their annual checks are taking place and want more information on how these services are being delivered during the pandemic period. Some people with diabetes might be shielding, others might be back at work or may care for someone with diabetes and be unsure of what to do and where to go if they should have any diabetes related concerns.
The Diabetes Centre’s Lead Specialist Nurse in Diabetes, Liz Whittingstall and Diabetes Specialist Nurse, Tracey Porteous have agreed to share an overview to provide information about how they continue to provide high quality care for people with diabetes at a time with so much change happening. They will also share advice about living with diabetes and the steps you can take ensure your future health.
Ian Bast, Chairman of Diabetes Group Isle of Wight said:
“Many people have asked us about what’s happening to annual diabetes checks during the COVID-19 period, so we are delighted to be hosting Liz Whittingstall and Tracey Porteous from the Diabetes Centre at St. Mary’s hospital at our zoom event. They will share an update to how the service has adapted to ensure people with diabetes on the Island continue to get the care they are entitled to, including essential checks. They will also answer as many questions about specific concerns you might have, so I encourage you to join our virtual event.”
