The Cowes floating bridge will be taken out of service from 7th April for its annual refit and inspection by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
It is anticipated the work will take about a week, although may it be longer depending on the progress of the inspection as in previous years.
Local firms The Forge and Seatek Engineering have been commissioned to carry out the refit, while a local passenger launch will be in place which can also carry cyclists.
Diversions through Newport will be in place for motorists and traffic is anticipated to be busier on the Newport-Cowes road.
