Many of the 19 members of Cowes RNLI lifeboat crew and shore crew who passed the RNLI’s rigorous casualty care course have received their certificates from the Island’s Lord Lieutenant, Major General Martin White.
The course, spread over three full days and under the supervision of a trainer from the charity’s Poole headquarters, dealt with a wide range of injuries and illnesses, from treating wounds, to resuscitation, and hypothermia. This was achieved through a variety of media, demonstrations, scenarios, paper-based exercises and practical sessions.
Major General White, who was accompanied by his wife, Fiona, also made presentations to the station’s very active visits team, with the men receiving RNLI ties and the women RNLI scarves.
