Storeroom2010, an Island charity that not only provides affordable second hand furniture for those in need but also provides training for the unemployed, is once again offering free carpentry training to unemployed Island residents aged over 18.
The course, which will commence later this month, will provide successful students an NOCN Level 1 certificate in Construction Crafts – Carpentry and Joinery (QCF). Those taking part can expect to develop joinery skills, health & safety in construction, how to produce woodworking joints, maintaining and using hand tools and produce basic woodworking joints, among other things.
Students will have to dedicated two days a week for a total of 16 weeks plus an induction.
One local who took part on a previous course said:
“I thought the course was excellent. It has given me the knowledge and confidence to use a lot of different tools safely and proficiently. The theory side was explained and taught in an easy to understand manner, which made it interesting to learn. Our tutor has been excellent throughout the course making the whole course thoroughly enjoyable.
