Isle of Wight MP Bob Seely is calling on Islanders to get behind local businesses this weekend in support of Small Business Saturday.
Bob, who has been a supporter of the Buy Local campaign on the Island, says he will be out and about on the Island this weekend shopping locally.
He said:
“Businesses have had it tough this year and some of our small businesses were hit even harder during the second lockdown when some larger retail outlets remained open while they had to close.
“If you’re looking to start your Christmas shopping now, like I am, then please think local and buy local first.
“Island businesses have so much to offer and our local retailers would really benefit from us spending our money with them now.
“I’ll be out and about over the weekend supporting our local businesses and I invite you to do the same. If you can’t get out, then please see what’s available online. The https://atoztome.com/ website is a good place to start or http://letsbuylocal.org.uk/”.
Norman Arnold from the IW FSB said:
“At a time when the UK is involved in a national battle with Covid-19, Small Business Saturday is a chance to make a local difference by supporting the Island’s small independent traders.
“These local shops offer quality, choice and good value so are great places in which to find Christmas supplies and gifts in a way that keeps money within the local economy.”

When Bob says buy local. Does he mean his constituency or where he actually lives, Oxfordshire?
so does he have a second/holiday home here or Oxfordshire?
Not many shops left on the High Street due to high rents, business rates and parking charges, hence not many shops left.
Wake up Bob, you should have thought about this a few years ago!, bit late now!
Would love to spend spend spend but will need to watch pennies now with hours being cut and huge council rates going up next year,
