redfunnelPortsmouth-based BAE Systems have this week signed a new deal with two cross-Solent operators to continue to repair, maintain and paint the Island’s ferries.

Both Wightlink’s and Red Funnel’s ferries will continue to be maintained in Portsmouth Harbour following the signing of the new agreement. Currently, each ferry travels to BAE’s dry dock for annual repairs and maintenance.

It has been announced that all seven of Wightlink’s ferries, that run between Portsmouth & Fishbourne and Lymington & Yarmouth, will head to the naval dockyard for roughly two weeks per annum with a similar arrangement in place for Red Funnel’s three car ferries.
