An experimental Cowes Sports side comfortably beat an Under-20 East Cowes Vics side at Beatrice Avenue on Tuesday (19th July).
Vics took the lead in the 1st minute through Toby Snow, who was set up by James Turner, to knock the ball past Tommy Jackson in the Cowes goal (1-0).
A minute later, the Yachtsmen equalized through Eli Ahmed, who slotted the ball past Lewis Flux, after the former Vics striker had been set up by Scott McFarlane (1-1).
Cowes then took the lead in the 4th minute through another former Vics player – Aedan Coode – who rifled the ball past Flux from the right side of the penalty area (1-2).
Both sides had chances in the remainder of the 1st half, but the scores remained level until the half-time interval.

The 2nd half began with numerous chances for Eli Ahmed, who had a strong penalty appeal turned down, before having a shot stopped by the Vics keeper and then shooting over the crossbar.
Caleb Neale added to the Yachtsmen’s tally in the 66th minute when his deflected shot looped over the Vics keeper (1-3). The final word in the game belonged to Eli Ahmed, who added a 2nd goal to his tally in the final minute of the game (1-4).

This Saturday (23rd July), East Cowes Vics will continue their pre-season campaign with a further pre-season friendly at Beatrice Avenue against East Preston from Southern Combination Division 1. Kick-off is at the earlier time of 14:00.
Also on Saturday, Cowes Sports have a friendly against Seaford Town (also from the Southern Combination Division 1) at Westwood Park. The kick-off is at 15:00.
Newport play Eastbourne United from the Southern Combination Premier at Smallbrook in their Saturday friendly. Kick-off is at 13:15.
