401-Shhh-JasonThe Shhh…it’s a library music tour is nearing its half-way point, with the third gig of the tour taking place in Freshwater tomorrow (Wednesday).

In a slight change to previous gigs, as well as the original works of PhreakAudio and Floella Grace & Friends, the gig will also feature the talents of another local singer/songwriter – West Wight local Jason Chatfield who has recently managed to get through the first stages of the X-factor auditions.

Gigs have already taken place at Newport and Ventnor libraries, with around 30 people soaking up the music at each venue.

The Shhh…it’s a library music tour is the brainchild of librarian Adam Gaterell, a keen musician himself, who wanted to explore ways of getting people who wouldn’t normally visit a library, through the doors so that they can see for themselves that libraries can offer more than just books.

Adam said, “It’s been great to see the libraries transformed for the concerts which have attracted people of all ages. I’m really keen to show people that libraries are no longer silent, formal places, but community hubs where you can meet people, learn new skills, rent films and music – as well as of course, borrow a book!”

The remaining tour dates are:

Freshwater Library – 12 June – 6pm to 8pm
Sandown Library – 26 June – 6pm to 8pm
Ryde Library – 10 July – 6.30pm to 8.30pm
Cowes Library – 24 July – 6pm to 8pm
