Quay Arts in Newport is offering Islanders the opportunity to join photographer Carinthia West for an informal evening exploring her iconic photography of 70s music and film royalty on Friday (10th June).
The evening will provide a wonderful opportunity to find out about Carinthia and her friends and the stories behind her images.
Carinthia’s photographic exhibition Hanging Out at Quay Arts showcases rare and unpublished snaps of icons of 70s music, film, and society. Her work includes such famous faces as Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood, George Harrison, Neil Young, Anjelica Huston, Helen Mirren, and Carly Simon.
Carinthia has a strong connection to the Isle of Wight, spending much of her childhood growing up here, and attended all 3 of the original and legendary IOW festivals. Her parents Mike and Christine West were instrumental in the founding of Quay Arts, making this exhibition a special kind of home coming.
Carinthia’s talk will start on at 19:00 on Friday in the Anthony Minghella Theatre. Tickets for the event cost £10. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to Quay Arts Charity.
Carinthia’s exhibition continues in the West Gallery until 8th July.
