The Post Office has announced that it will be closing its Wootton Bridge branch from the start of next month.
Following the resignation of the operator and withdrawal of the premises for Post Office use, it has been announced that the Wootton Bridge Post Office on the High Street will close on Sunday 1st November at 17:30.
The branch is currently located at the Central Convenience Store near the Cedars junction.
The area now faces losing its Post Office altogether if an alternative suitable location cannot be found. The Post Office says it’s looking to restore a service in the area ‘as soon as possible’.
After 1st November and until new premises can be found, customers are being directed to use the York Avenue Post Office in East Cowes or Binstead Post Office on the outskirts of Ryde.
The local Parish Council says it will be working to resolve the situation for the local community.

If the post office is closing then the Central shop won’t last long, the only reason people go there is for the post office. Ever since Tesco Express opened it’s been a slow drawn out decline with a number of different owners.
East Cowes Post Office hasn’t been in York Avenue for about 30 years, It’s in Well Street
