The replacement windscreen arrived from Germany this morning (Thursday) and Hunt Forest Group has been busy installing the new glass at Ryde Inshore Rescue this afternoon.
As previously reported, Ryde Inshore Rescue volunteers were ‘devastated and angered’ when they discovered their launch vehicle – a John Deer tractor – had been vandalised by some unknown individual(s) in the new year.
After seeing the news, Hunt Forest Group in Rookley, formally R. Hunt Ltd, stepped in and offered to source and replace the smashed windscreen – free of charge.
Hunt Forst Group’s mechanics have been at the boathouse today replacing the screen – meaning the launch vehicle can now be put back into service.
A spokesperson for Hunt Forest Group said:
“Our guys and gal from the Isle of Wight branch are fitting the replacement John Deere windscreen at Ryde Inshore Rescue!
“Not long until their tractor is back up and running following the vandalism earlier this week.
“Thank you to Ady [Ryde Inshore Rescue] for the coffees and his time, from the team at Hunt Forest Group.”

A spokesperson for Ryde Inshore Rescue said earlier this afternoon:
“On station today with the fabulous guys and gals from Hunt Forest Group fitting our new windscreen in the pouring rain.”
Thanks to all the people involved in the replacement of the windscreen. Shows there is still some decent people willing to help at a cost to themselves when needed. Hope the culprit(s) are caught and punished for their senseless vandalism.
Great news, now all we want is a group of public spirted guys to feed the broken glass to those who smashed it, IF the police, despite having numerous cameras on cars, on private houses etc etc, ever find the culprits.
Shame people don’t have micro chips fitted, then the law could sit in it’s offices and cars and never have to leave to find those who commit crimes. The could just email them the summons, and take the fine direct from their social security payments.
Give it a few more years and no doubt they will.
