The Eagles made the trip across the Solent looking to increase their points tally after a good start to the year.
They came up against a well-drilled and hard-working Stubbington team that had finished top-of-the-table in 2020/21.
Both sides came out of the blocks very evenly matched. This is the first time these two teams have met, and it could of gone either way in the first 20 minutes as Imogen and Summer had chances to break the deadlock. But so did Stubbington, as their playmaker in the middle of the field started to run the game for them.
Stubbington were an attacking threat to the Island side but were contained by the strong back three of Ellie, Faith and Poppy. The Stubbington captain broke through but was denied by goalkeeper Eloise. Towards the end of the 1st half, the Eagles had their own chance to go 1 up, but some brilliant goalkeeping form the Stubbington keeper kept Imogen’s shot out.

Both teams were evenly matched in the 2nd half. With only 3 minutes remaining, Stubbington were awarded a penalty for handball. As the Stubbington captain stepped up, Eloise stood tall and again denied them their chance to go in front.
The Eagles then saw an opportunity to launch a counterattack of their own as Magenta was put through on goal only to be denied as the referee blew his whistle to end the game.
