Around 50 jobs are set to be created when national chain JD Wetherspoon open up a brand new pub in Newport.
Once a popular nightclub, the building on St James’ Street in the town will be converted to a modern-style public house, similar to the company’s other premises in Union Street, Ryde and Coppins Bridge, Newport.
As Island Echo previously reported, the company purchased the long abandoned building back in May of this year for an estimated £450,000.
Customers can expect to see a new beer garden created, as well as the modernisation of the building both inside and out with a new kitchen and customer toilets being installed.
Consultation on the plans began last Friday (26th July) with all objections to be received by 16th August.
