Ventnor Rugby Club hosted a junior rugby event attended by mainland teams from Wanstead, Henley, Bracknell, and Beccehamians on Sunday 24th April.
The clubs are annual/regular visitors to the Isle of Wight and were utilising their accommodation which had been suspended due to the pandemic. Their travel arrangements were arranged by Sports Travel SW, who have been sending clubs across the Solent for over 20 years.
The matches were played in great spirit with some great talent on view, using all three pitches at the Watcombe Bottom facility. The age groups of those attending ranged from under-7s to under-12s.
After the event, Ed Blake, Ventnor RFC’s chairman stated:
“I would like to thank all the kids and parents who attended the event and to the volunteers from our club and from Rew Valley Youth Football who made it all possible. We hope that we will be able to expand this further in future years.”
