Tesco Extra in Ryde is planning to install a number of electric vehicle charging points.
The supermarket off Brading Road has applied to the Isle of Wight Council to install an LCD media screen and 3 flag pole signs to advertise the facility.
8 normal parking spaces will be lost by the introduction of an electric vehicle only section, but with the popularity of electric vehicles on the rise this news will certainly be welcomed by the modern-day motorist.
The dedicated zero-emission zone will be located to the west of the main entrance lobby and will offer 5 charging points – meaning a total loss of 3 parking spaces.
No time scale has been given on when the new bays will be ready for use.

Must be a nice little earner then.
