The Island’s most senior Police Officer, Superintendent Will Schofield, is making a temporary move across the Solent to become Hampshire Constabulary’s Eastern Area Commander, it has been announced.
Schofield will become a Chief Superintendent and will overlook Portsmouth, Havant, Fareham, Gosport and the Isle of Wight from next Monday (4th November).
Superintendent Will Schofield said:
“It is a six-month temporary promotion to chief superintendent while my colleague, temporary chief superintendent Richard John, works on the change plans within the force.
“While I am looking forward to the new challenge, I’m sad to be leaving the Island for the time being. I have thoroughly enjoyed working here to provide an excellent service to the community in this unique environment.
“As the eastern area commander, I will still be actively involved with the Isle of Wight and visiting regularly.
“I’m keen to ensure we maintain the momentum we’ve built towards reducing crime.”
A temporary superintendent is being sought to cover the Isle of Wight.
