temptationsAfter laying empty for over a year, the former Temptations nightclub in Newport is set to be transformed into a JD Weatherspoon pub, making it the third in the chain on the Island.

Purchased for around £450,000, the former bar and nightclub in St James’ Street will be completely refurbished and will reopen as a modern and respectable family bar come restaurant in a similar set up to the national chain’s Union Street premises in Ryde and the William Coppin on Coppins Roundabout, Newport.

Details of when work will begin are currently unknown, however the news has been welcomed by locals as a boost to Newport Town Centre, which has seen a number of store closures over the past couple of months.
